Wanting:  Humility Before the Truth

See: Even I Question ‘the Truth’ About 911 By Robert Fisk (From The Independent) http://news.independent.co.uk/fisk/article2893860.ece Then: Check out comments here… http://www.countercurrents.org/fisk260807.htm

This article by Robert Fisk addresses the various 911 theories with a surprise twist. The comments that follow here demonstrate the ongoing temper, pride and dogmatism added onto a number of opposing views.

So I am here addressing the comments rather than Fisk or his conclusions…

Well, to cut to the quick, let’s 1) discuss Rove’s understanding of his gang creating their own empire reality…2) answer some of the questions Fisk asks–rather than debunk them, then 3) once again, turn to human rights abuses…

Many of us have way more on our plate with the rapidly multiplying human and civil Rights abuses stemming from this present regime & it’s occupation. We can’t let up on them to study 911…not even for one day…that is, if we are to save any remnant of our Bill of Rights or any of the long-respected charters of universal human rights…

Yet, we are sometimes grateful for others who are digging for the truth as carefully as possible in other fields of expertise.

The “Truth” is most certainly way too large and unfathomable for any to be arrogant about the same.

Rather, how about Gandhi’s maxim: we must needs have humility before the truth?

Gandhi said: “Truth without humility would be an arrogant caricature”.

That’s ALL of us…is it not? How might we most effectively accomplish that kind of humility given our own chosen path to that “Truth” and considering the gifts and baggage, the opportunities and pitfalls that accompany the varied positions?  For me, it’s a daily school with so many lessons ahead.

MONDAY–The day that will go down in history as the day Alberto Gonzales will finally resign!

Speaking of Truth… Go to the Fisk article on Truth & 911–find a comment by Laurence Schechtman and the comment above about how hard “truth” is to live with once “found”–that most folk will blot it out…

We have seen this time & again in recent history…we need to be people not only of peace & investigation but people who can look the facts in the eye to the best of our abilities & apply antidotes in unison, even when we don’t have the whole truth–even when we may be partly wrong & someone else partly right…

    Thanks for this dialogue!

PS Let’s celebrate this as the day when perhaps truth will be easier to find what with our lame & dangerous US Attorney General resigning!!! And to think a man with his legal background, influence and trusted post could have given us not only more security & favor in the world, not only moral high ground, dignity & increased favor in the world in handling detainees & war criminals but also–he could have been a mentor for so many others–the young who go into law, minority leadership & perhaps could have saved habeas corpus & our constitutional rights from the destruction of our unitary Bush/Cheney Kingship.
