In order to secure the bill’s passage, House leaders are planning to orchestrate two votes on Today,Thursday. The first vote will be on war funding, while the second will be to approve the extra money.
While Pelosi, Waters and other like-minded Democrats are expected to vote against the first amendment on war funds, GOP members may make up for the losses. On the second vote, who knows for sure?
Under the plan, the Senate would receive a single bill and cast its own vote by Friday.
So, since Congress is set to vote within the next 48 hours to give Bush a blank check to pay for continued war and occupation. It is unacceptable that the Democratic leadership has abandoned a timeline for ending the war in this new supplemental funding bill. Call your Representative and Senators today at (202) 224-3121 and insist they stand up to Bush and vote against endless war!
Tell them: Vote NO on the Supplemental funding bill. This money will only continue to support the war and occupation of Iraq. Don’t buy Bush’s war! If they are at all inclined toward progressive, tell them we want HR 1234
When you call the Senate, back up Feingold–check his site again later today and early Friday for any further S bill or amendment listings. At the least tell your legislator, NO MORE FUNDING WAR, NO more humane attachements nor Iraqi oil law benchmarks either–and please,GET a deadline and soon for bringing our poor troops home!
Call outside your area in your state as well. Be honest–tell them they don’t have to send you a letter but they represent your state & well all desperately need their urgent help to end this war now.
